"Gosh, I love this dress, but it’s the fit that irks me!”

Sounds familiar? Yes, all of us have experienced expressing that kind of frustration before. Unless of course if you're not too particular with what you wear; with a "devil-may-care" attitude towards fashion. There's actually nothing wrong with that. In fact, your outlook towards style is definitely your own, as it's a form of self-expression. But what if we're talking about THE wedding dress? The gown that you'll be wearing on one of the most wonderful milestones of your life?  As much as we give importance to the wedding planning itself, brides treat their wedding dress as the "centerpiece" of their wedding; the highlight of the ”I Do” moments. Brides who will be having a multicultural wedding exert effort and diligence in finding a wedding dress that’ll complement the mixture of different cultures. That's the amazing part of your quest in finding the excellent wedding dress for you.

Women have distinct taste towards wedding dress style, though it's very essential (and taxing!) to come up with the one for you, the fit should be given utmost importance. It's suggested to identify what your body type is and choose a wedding dress silhouette that hugs your figure best, flattering your assets and concealing or improving the parts you're not too proud of.

If you're having a hard time finding your body shape, your seamstress can absolutely help you, but you can easily identify yours. Either way, you'll be able to know which wedding gown shape to pick. The exciting part of it is picking out the most favourable design to your liking.

Wedding Dress Ideas

1. Mini Dress

Great for petite. Not a good choice for plus-sized women as the skirt flows wide above the knees.

2. Tea Length

This is great for all body types, with a fitted bodice, with a skirt that flows just beneath the knees.

3. Sheath

Fits naturally to the body shape, as its narrow feature flows from the neckline down to the hem. Doesn't fit around the waist as it just flows naturally straight. Great pick for those with hourglass figures but not ideal to pears or on the chubby side as can be considered as unflattering.

4. A Line

Fitted at the bodice and just like the uppercase A outline, it flows out to the ground. Great for all body shapes.

5. Modified A Line

Great for all body types. A Modified A line flows to the hem, still following an A silhouette but the skirt is more fitted compared to the traditional A line dress.

6. Trumpet

Fits through the body until mid-hip, then flows widely up to the hem. Not a good pick for those with apple or pear body shapes (though some are able to pull it off perfectly) but is definitely a great choice for petites and those who have small frame.

7. Ballgown

Fitted at the bodice, with a waistline that flows to a full skirt. Great for pear-shaped bodies but not a good pick for petites and those with small frames.

8. Mermaid

This is perfect for those with hourglass figure and slender body types. It fits through the body, from chest down to the knee and then flares out to the hem.

It's so fun browsing through several wedding dress shape types, right? But that's just the first, exciting part of wedding dress planning! Whatever is pleasing to you- a delicately designed dress, a vibrant multicultural wedding gown or an elaborate design that's filled with sequins, you'll surely wow your HTB and your guests with a perfect fit.
